On the occasion of the eight annual Week of Italian Cuisine in the World, a panel discussion on the links among food, wellness, sports, and the Italian and Mediterranean diets. Panelists include Michelin star chef Luigi Fineo; Olympic medalist and Manager, Athlete Relations LA 28 Jason Richardson; UCLA scientist Dr. Amelia Palermo and Pepperdine University’s Seaver College Professor of Nutrition Dr. Loan Pham Kim. Moderated by journalist Veronica Maffei.

About the Panelists

Luigi Fineo is a Michelin star chef from Puglia, who moved to the USA more than 10 years ago and launched some of the most important Italian restaurants in the city, he is now also a private chef in LA.

Jason Richards is an American track and field athlete who specializes in the 110 meter hurdles. He won the gold medal in the 110 meter hurdles at the 2011 World Championships in Daegu, and the silver medal in the same event at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. He is currently the Manager of Athlete Relations for LA 28.

Dr. Amelia Palermo is a scientist researcher at UCLA who deals with the interaction between a healthy diet, medical therapies (including cancer treatment) and the immune system.

Dr. Loan Pham Kim is Professor of Nutritional Science at Pepperdine University. Her research interests include public health nutrition, health disparities and policy strategies and global health.

Veronica Maffei is a journalist and reporter who specializes in news, regional politics, sport, in particular soccer, and cinema. She also conducts live events and radio broadcasts.
