67th RENAISSANCE CONFERENCE OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA

Held in conjunction with the Ferrucci Institute for Italian Experience and Research, the Bernardino Telesio Professorship in Italian Studies, and Wilkinson College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences. The 67th annual RCSC Conference on Renaissance Adaptations will be held at Chapman University on 21 February 2025.

Program Highlights

The theme for the 67th RCSC Conference is “Renaissance Adaptations.” Our panelists engage with processes of imitation, emulation, critical fabulation, borrowing, future-making, and other forms of adaptive reworking of Renaissance materials, texts, or ideas by creators of the past, and creators of today. Such creative reuses encompass various attitudes to the past, including admiration, antagonism, and nostalgia. Our sessions engage with literature, pedagogy, art, architecture, media studies, rhetoric, gender and sexuality, museum curation, and music. Events of the day include a special music performance and short film screening.
